Bob Vogel, New Market Bank, has been appointed to chair the new Commission on the oversight of the Legislative Budget Office, a nonpartisan body focused on providing accurate information on the fiscal impact of proposed legislation.
“The objective of the Legislative Budget Office is to improve accuracy by putting fiscal projections an “arm’s length” away from both the executive and legislative branches,” Vogel said. “Having an independent body will not only increase objectivity by eliminating potential conflicts of interest which now exist but also provide a more probing and unbiased indication of how much a proposal would cost taxpayers. I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the legislative commission overseeing this important new office.”
Vogel was appointed to the Legislative Budget Office Oversight Commission in June. “Rep. Vogel was instrumental in creating the Legislative Budget Office, which will provide a clear picture state spending for Minnesota taxpayers,” Speaker Kurt Daudt (R- Crown) said, at the time. “He will provide the leadership and legislative oversight that this important new tool needs to be successful.”
